Persist…and Cling

Good morning!

Rich Mercy and a Thankful Heart

“But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; avoid such men as these.”

2 Timothy 3:1-5

Form~

shape, appearance, exterior

Lover of God…or…lover of self, lover of money…the list goes on.

Here’s the scary deception…there are those who take the shape, the appearance, have the exterior of…a Lover of God. But they’ve denied the essence of Who He is.  They talk the talk, but don’t walk in a manner worthy of the calling.  It’s deceiving. And real.  Real Scary.

2 Timothy 3:13 says, “But evil men and imposters will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

{So here’s the question…Do I…Do You…

accept

acknowledge

believe

claim

embrace

the power of the Most High God?}

These people holding to a form of godliness…religion…they are deceivers, but they are also being deceived.

The enemy has snared them into believing that they are godly enough…religious enough…{remember the Pharisees} to make it into the Kingdom.

But they don’t know the King.  They don’t acknowledge or embrace His power.  They are “…always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of truth.” (2 Tim 3:7)

So…do you know the King AND embrace His power?  Do you claim His power over your life?

Yes?  Then…

“You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, {are you CONVINCED?!} knowing from whom you have learned them, {Whom are you learning from? Who is learning from what you have learned?} and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

YOU, my friend…CONTINUE IN THE THINGS YOU HAVE LEARNED AND BECOME CONVINCED OF.

Don’t be tripped or snared by those who would deceive you…because there are those who will try!

The sacred writings…the Word of God…will give you wisdom.

We are most definitely in difficult times.  We are surrounded by people who are…lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.

We must continue in His Word.

Continue~ persist in an activity or process.

Continue means ongoing, continuous, sustained, persistent, steady, relentless, rolling, uninterrupted, unabating, unremitting, unrelieved, unceasing.

Here’s the good news…continue also means to recommence or resume after interruption.

If you have experienced an interruption, CONTINUE ON!!  Resume…pick up where you were interrupted,

Return to His Word and continue on.

“Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.”

~1 Timothy 4:7

How do we train?  “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16…we pick up our Sword!!

“For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”  1 Timothy 4:8

There is this present life…but even BETTER…MORE IMPORTANTLY…there is the life to come.

We have this present life to train…to get to know our King.

Continue on…persist…relentlessly pursue the King of Kings and acknowledge His power…don’t deny it!!

Pick up your Sword and continuously train yourself to be godly…be unremitting…unceasing.

“…cling tightly to the LORD your God as you have done until now.”

~Joshua 23:8~

Father, You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power.  You are the Creator of all, the Sustainer of all…the Restorer of all.  Forgive us for denying Your power…forgive us for not embracing Who You are.  You are the Great I Am.  Let us never be holding to a form of godliness…let us cling tightly to YOU alone.  Help us to continue on in Your Word, guide us in Your Truth.  Help us to know You better.  Let us be unremitting…unceasing in our righteousness training.  Help us to look more like You today.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Blessings!

“Let the Word of Christ richly dwell within you…”

Colossians 3:16a
