“Your words were found and I ate them, and Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.”
Before my eyes were open this morning, I could see the pages of His Word. And I felt a longing…a longing to know what it was He wants to say to me off of the living pages of His Word this morning.
“The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. I opened my mouth wide and panted, for I longed for Your commandments.” (Psalm 119:130-131)
“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” (Psalm 143:8)
Lord, let every morning be this way! Give me this burning desire every morning, to hear from You before my eyes even open. Give me a desire to hear Your voice guiding me, teaching me throughout the day. Stir up this desire in all of Your children…the desire to come expectantly into Your presence.
“I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD.” (Jeremiah 24:7)
I opened my eyes and grabbed my phone to look at the time, anxious that I may have slept through my quiet time…but there was still time and I heard…
“Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come away with me.”
Song of Solomon 2:10
Do you hear Him calling you to come away with Him? To come and spend time with Him? He says the same thing to you.
Lord, if every morning could be like this! For Your nail-scarred hands to reach for me to come and be with You every morning. To draw me into this time of seeking and listening and knowing.
And they do…His hands reach for me and you each morning to draw us into His Presence after they’ve held us through the night. It’s just that sometimes we miss it.
Father, stir us with Your Spirit to want to know You more. Don’t let us miss You calling us to meet with You. Give us this craving for You above everything else every moment of the day. Give your sons and daughters a fresh craving for You. For the Word made flesh. Flesh that bled for me. Blood that covers me and cleanses me.
Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart. Psalm 119:2
Jesus, I seek You with all of my heart.
With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments. Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You. Psalm 119:10-11
Lord, I treasure Your Word above all else. Engrave Your words on my heart.
I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches. Psalm 119:14
The testimony of Your Love for me is living in Your Word. “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” 1 John 3:1
The testimony of the grace You give is living in Your Word. “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us.” (Ephesians 1:7-8a)
The testimony of the life You lived…“For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)
…and the life You give…“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)
The testimony of Your holiness and Your glory. “And one called out to another and said, “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory.” (Isaiah 6:3)
Your Word breathes truth into my soul. It gives strength to my bones, hope to my heart. Peace to my mind. It cleanses me from all unrighteousness.
Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law. Psalm 119:18
Open my eyes to know You and understand You.
My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times. Psalm 119:20
Consume me with a desire for Your Truth.
I will meditate on your decrees. Your testimonies are my delight; they are my counselors. Psalm 119:23-24
I will think about Your Word as I go about my day today. I delight in the Truth that You love me and delight in me. That I am forgiven and chosen. That I am Your daughter and I will spend eternity with You. Your Word is my counselor…teach me how to walk closer with You today.
Father, thank You for Your beautiful Word. Thank You for the Beautiful and True Love Story, written to us and for us. About a Savior who is my Hero…the One who died to give me life. In His Name, Amen.
“Let the Word of Christ richly dwell within you…”
