Exchanging Truth

Good Morning!!

        Exodus 15.11

“They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator–who is forever praised. Amen.”
Romans 1:25

  • What truth do I believe about God?
  • Or, what lie am I believing about Him? About Who He is?

If I know the Truth about Who God is, and how He feels about me, I will want nothing more than to serve Him wholeheartedly.
I will be free to love Him recklessly.

“…and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”  John 8:32

How do we know the truth?
Let’s back up one verse…

“So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;”

So we have to be continuing in His Word…

“…and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

Free. Freedom comes when we’ve been enslaved to something, or imprisoned.

The truth sets us free…free from the prison of lies that have enslaved us.
Things that have enslaved us to things other than a loving God.

See, if we believe a lie about who God is, we will not want to wholeheartedly serve Him and Him alone.
If we believe He is holding back or holding out on us, we’ll pursue other things.
We’ll exchange Truth for lies and pursue the lie…which in turn becomes an idol. A god.
We’ll walk away from His perfect Love, and we’ll pursue things like…

Success
Success in our children
Wealth
Happiness
Love
Pleasure
Beauty
Stuff

stone idols

And somewhere in the pursuit of these things, we will be left broken and empty. Depressed and alone.

Because we chased the created things rather than the Creator.

Because we exchanged Truth for a lie. The lie that God was not Love. That He was not enough. That he would bring harm to us. That He would not meet our needs.

But the Truth sets us free.
The Truth is His Word.
Lies imprison, Truth releases.

  • Do I believe that God is Love?
  • Do I believe that His Word is Truth?
  • Am I still believing that something other than Him alone can satisfy?

Do I think that maybe…just a little more wealth…just another promotion…when I find the right person…if my kids make it into that school…if I get rid of these wrinkles or make “these” a little bigger…then I’ll be happy. That’s when I’ll be content and life will be ok.
IT’S A STINKIN’ LIE from the pit of HELL.

“You shall have no other gods before me.”
That’s what God says in Exodus 20:3.

He gives commands because He loves us. Because when we put something or someone other than Him in His place, life will fall apart, piece by piece.

We tell our kids not to run out in the street because we don’t want them to get hit by a car.
Not to touch the stove so they won’t get burned.
Not to do drugs, not to drink and drive.
Why?
Because we love them and want what’s best for them!
And so does our Father in heaven.

So,

  • What truth do I believe about God?
  • Or, what lie am I believing about Him? About Who He is?
  • Have I been enslaved by a lie, or set free by the Truth?
  • Do I desire to serve Him wholeheartedly?  To follow Him and leave my idols behind?

If the answer is no, then maybe, somewhere along the way, you have exchanged the truth of who He is for a twisted lie. Maybe you don’t think He loves you and wants the best for you. Maybe you don’t think that He wants you. I pray that today, He would open the eyes of your heart so you could see the truth about who He is. That He loves you and wants the best for you. That you are cherished and chosen. That He loved you SO MUCH, He sent His Son to die…willingly…for YOU…on a cross. I pray that today the chains of lies would be broken with the Sword of Truth.

Open your ears to hear the Truth.
Bend your heart to long for Hope.

No Love is Lovlier

No Truth is Truer

No Presence more Present

No Light shines Brighter

No Song is Sweeter

Than Yours, O God!!

There is none like You!

May there never be a Lie that blinds my eyes to the Truest Truth…the Truth that You are All in All.

May there never be a Lie that binds my heart to anything less than You.

May there never be a god that sits on the Throne of Your praises in my heart.

Father…Holy, Majestic, Loving Father, may each person who reads this today see You for who you truly are. You are Love…You are Truth…You are Peace…You are Healer…You are Provider…You are Redeemer…You are Restorer…You are All in All.  Let lies be replaced with Truth today.  Let eyes be opened, hearts be turned, so we can follow You…chase You…with our whole heart. In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.

Blessings!!

“Let the Word of Christ richly dwell within you…”

Colossians 3:16a
