Good morning!!

“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!  For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor?  Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to Him again?  For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.”

Romans 11:33-36

This past weekend, we were able to go see Kari Jobe in concert…how amazing it was to worship in a packed-out sanctuary with fellow believers from all over the area!!  A beautiful little glimpse of eternity…praising and worshiping God forever with other saints and angels!!

The one thing that stuck with me that I absolutely loved, was her husband’s reminder to every person in the sanctuary. He reminded us all that, no matter where we are in our walk with Christ, God wants to take us to a deeper place. Today…now…He wants to take me deeper into the knowledge of Him, deeper into relationship with Him.  No matter if you are a brand-new follower of Christ, or if you have been following Him for many, many years…His depths are unsearchable, His ways, unfathomable!  We will always be able to grow deeper into His wisdom…into His knowledge.  The more we grow in the knowledge of who He is, the more understanding He gives us of Himself, the deeper we will fall in love with Him.  There is no end to our growth in Him!!

Today’s Passage:

Ephesians 4:11-16

11And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. 14As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; 15but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, 16from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.

The New Living Translation translates verse 13 this way, This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.”  As followers of Christ, we are to be maturing in the Lord, growing more and more into the likeness of Christ every day, every minute.  He alone is the standard.  As we each grow in our personal relationship with Christ, we also grow in unity with other followers of Christ!  As we grow closer to Him we grow closer to each other.  The individual growth of each body in Christ helps the body of Christ to grow!

Ephesians 1:17 says “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.”  God pours His Spirit into us when we become a follower of Christ, and it is His very Spirit that gives us more and more wisdom, and revelation of who He is as we walk in a manner worthy of our calling. As we chase after Him and pursue His heart, His Spirit helps us to know Him better!  Colossians 2:3 says All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Him (Christ)!”  Hidden treasures in Christ…hidden treasures that He wants us to find!!!  Who says being a follower of Christ isn’t exciting?!!  Our life is a “treasure hunt”!!  We are called to hunt the treasures of the One who formed us.  Called to know better the One who formed the stars and the seas and breathed us into life.

“As a result, we are no longer to be children…but…we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ…”

Growing in ALL aspects.  Growing into Him who is the head, even Christ.  Growing into the full and complete standard of Christ.  We will not reach that complete standard until He comes back.  So here on earth, our growth in Him is not limited…because His depths are not limited.  We will never fully “arrive” until He arrives for us!!

2 Corinthians 3:18 reminds us that “…all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord–who is the Spirit–makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.”

As we are changed into His glorious image, we reflect His glory!  His Light spills out of us into this dark world and He is glorified through us.  That’s why He made us…to bring Him glory.

  • Today, whether you just made Jesus your Lord and Savior yesterday, or if you are 95 and have been walking with Him since you were 10…today will you ask Him to take you deeper into relationship with Him?
  • Will you ask Him to fill you to overflowing with His Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know Him better and be changed into His glorious image?
  • Will you keep your eyes fixed today on the only one True Standard, Christ, and not betossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming?”

Kari’s husband also reminded us that God will not “force us” into a deeper relationship with Him.  We have to seek Him out, we have to ask Him to take us deeper.  I want that to be my constant prayer.

Father, Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of You! How unsearchable are Your judgments and unfathomable Your ways!  Father, take me deeper into Your unsearchable depths today!! Today, Holy Spirit, will You mold me even more into the image of Christ so I can better reflect His glory?  Will You pour knowledge and understanding into me today so I can better understand the depth of the love of the Father and fall more deeply in love with Him?  Take me deeper today, let me not be tossed about, but let my feet be firmly planted in Your faithfulness and truth.  In the holy name of Jesus, Amen.

Blessings today!

“Let the Word of Christ richly dwell within you…”
