All the world is in bloom, and I must say I feel like I am blooming right along with the flowers and trees!! My man proposed to me on Sunday, and now I am a bride-to-be!! Everywhere I look there are beautiful white trees, reminding me of a bride on her wedding day. I am so thankful that he proposed to me in such a perfect and beautiful time of year! Song of Solomon 2:11-13 says “For behold, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone. The flowers have already appeared in the land; The time has arrived for pruning the vines, And the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land. The fig tree has ripened its figs, And the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance. Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, And come along!'”
Every time I look down at my breathtakingly beautiful engagement ring, my heart skips a beat!! I am sooo looking forward to marrying Guy!!! But I am also reminded of the “engagement ring” that Jesus has given to us when I look at my ring. He has given us the Holy Spirit as His pledge to us! 2 Corinthians 1:22 (NLT) says, “and He has identified us as His own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything He has promised us.” If my engagement ring to Guy makes my heart jump like it does, how much more should our heart jump with exceeding joy when we think of the Holy pledge that resides within us when we say YES to Christ?!!! We are looking forward to “everything He has promised us”…which is…Himself!! “…Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.” (Ephesians 5:25-27)
Beloved, if you have said “YES” to Christ, be reminded when you look out at the world in bloom that you are His bride-to-be!!! Let your heart leap for joy whenever you think of the Holy Spirit in you as a pledge.
“My beloved is mine, and I am his”
